This impromptu video shows removing the GBA's 0603 SMD power LED with a soldering iron only, and with hot air. I had some trouble figuring out how to orient the LED, so unfortunately I won't be much help there. After some trial and error and a few bloopers, I was able to get the new LED working.

When Boiling the 72-Pin Connector Doesn't Work - Experiment Fixing Blinking Nintendo by Bending Pins

While an attempt at boiling the 72-Pin connector did improve things with this NES, it didn't restore it to 100% functionality.  I attempted a second boil, cleaned some games, and end up re-bending the connector pins. Tools used in this video:
